A year ago, my father put his business in my name for the following reasons: 1.) because he couldn't get workmans comp and 2.) he said it would make him more responsible with the business. It is now 2009 and he still hasn't payed the taxes for the business. Again, I have no control over the business. He used my name and he controls it all. I am worried his refusal to pay the taxes will result in some sort of punishment (I'm mainly worried about jail). I want to get out of this situation and cut ties with my father. He has lied to me and hurt my future. I am now a Senior in college and I still live with my father. I could easily move on campus and not worry about this at all, but there is one problem. If I were to leave, he would surely not pay the taxes and I would be incapable of paying and would likely get into some kind of trouble. As you can see, I am in a very difficult situation. What should I do?I have a bit of a problem and need some advice.?
But i think no parents would intend to put their kids in a jeopardy, as you are thinking of. He might be trying to teach you about his business or maybe about responsiblity...But you've mentioned he has control over it. Now, what you got to do is, talk with your father. Tell him you are worried about him....lets not go into the details of talkings. BUT YOU REALLY SHOULD TRY TO KNOW WHAT HAS MADE HIM RELUCTANT TO PAY THE TAXES. maybe after finding, his actions could be justified??? How about short of money??? How about giving him hand to shoulder on the burden he is facing????
But then their is your career. You might have been worrying about the potential disaster coming ahead to you . Before its too late, i tell you, TALK WITH HIM, INSIST THAT MAYBE YOU MIGHT BE A HELP TO WHAT HE IS HIDING, after all no one cannot control our future and destiny. But they sure can meddle it. So, don't just think about breaking ur relationship with a one who brought u down on earth.
We can be independent on our own, Live on our own....but pls don't say '..I WANT TO CUT TIES....'.It hurts mortally.
