Disposing of a broken long mirror?? and problem with landlord??? advice please?
1) i broke this long mirror which was in my room. I have every intention of replacing it as i found the exact same one in a nearby shop. Anyways i got rid of the broken glass.. but half of the glass is still intact on the mirror. Right now i have just placed it in the garage. I just want advice on how to dispose it.... i live in the UK... but i'm not sure if i can just place it outside the house and if the council men will take it away...
2) i rent this house with 3 other girls...we have also been having some security issues with the house.. the house does not have a porch light...and the front door is not secure and we had someone in our garden one night who was trying to luk into the house through the curtains...we informed the police and told our landlord to install the lights but she does not seem to be doing anything... if this carries on what should we do?? we have another 9 months contract with her
also can the landlord legally take money from our deposits for every minor things... a month after i moved in i noticed a few oil patterns on the wall... i did not use blu- tac or anything and i did not notice it before... how much money can he take for just a paint job??
thank you to everyoneHow to dispose a broken mirror problem with landlord .. plz advice?

I would tell the landlord that it is a danger to have no light on the porch, and that if anything criminal happens or you lose property she could be responsible. Offer to do it yourself; but she may not pay if you do it. You can also get a portable light and put on the porch yourself, and then take it when you move.
Landlords can charge your security deposit for almost anything, rarely do renters get the whole thing back.
Mirror: break it into smaller pieces and put it with the trash in smaller bags. The trash men shouldn't mind that way.
Yes, they can keep the money from your deposits for little things. In all honesty, people rarely get their damage deposits back.. that's just the way it goes.
Remind him one more time of the light, and give him a week or two. If he doesn't do anything about it, tell your landlord that you realize how busy he is, and that you would like to have a light installed. Tell him you will take care of it, but you wanted to make sure it was ok with him. I don't think he will mind. In the meantime, make sure you have pepper spray with you, and leave a light on in the house for when you get home. Leave the tv on at night as well.
I would dispose of the mirror yourself, that way your landlord doesn't see it and make a big fuss over it. Take it to a nearby dump or recycling station.
