I hope this is not the beginnings of mange, a terrible skin disorder where they get itchy, scaly skin and lose their hair over time. Take it back to the place you adopted it as soon as possible (they may have a thirty day policy or something like that for free checkups) and let them know the dog came with this problem when you adopted it. They usually have a group vet that will look at the dog free of charge. I would not ignore this problem as it could get worse.Dog aged 14 months from rescue Centre, not had him long and problem with his face. advice please?
All you can do is take him to the vet. In the meantime keep the wound clean, warm water and cotton wool is fine. Keep it as dry as possible and try and control his scratching at it, even if it means cutting a hole in the bottom of a bucket and putting it over his head so he can't scratch it. The vet will check it out and probabily give him antibiotics!
This could be anything from an Allergy to eczema or mange. Or even just a simple cut that has become infected.
Best get a vet to check him out as he may need antibiotics to clear it up. If its not checked out it could spread to other parts of the dogs body. Have a look under his belly and in his armpits to see if he has any more sore places just in case.
you should put some neosporin on it
it is very sweet that you would rescue a don i want to do that
go to the vet it could be an allergy to something he is either eating or shampoo that they have used on him
