No, it is not me with the gambling problem, it is with a woman who comes to our lounge and plays Keno constantly, night after night, losing $500 to $1,000+ each night. This is a legal gambling game in Michigan. The ethical dilema I have, is that I do not know this woman. So should I go up to her and tell her she might be gambling too much? The small experience I have had with her, and based on what others say about this woman, she is a very arrogant, conceited and nasty woman to be around, and everybody says they hate her (bec. of this attitude she has). I do know that she has said several times that her husband would killl her if he found out she was doing this. She doesn't strike me as a woman that can afford this much money (perhaps her husband can, but not her). I am a moral person (but this has nothing to do with religion!), and I think I should speak up to her. I know it's really none of my business, but from an ethical position, should I talk to her, or just mind my biz??Problem gambling dilemma....I need advice.?
I would recommend walk up to her with a pleasant smile, hand her a brochure about problem gambling, or a piece of paper with the phone number of a local Gambler's Anonymous group, and simply say, ';This is in case you need it.'; Walk away and let her make her own decision. As the wife of a recovering gambling addict, I appreciate and admire your concern for this woman.Problem gambling dilemma....I need advice.?
Sounds like it's not really your place...but business is business and if she is spending a lot of money in your place, let her.
LOL-sounds like me in 20 years-leave her alone-no matter what you say-';won't work'; gambling is an addiction-want to feel better about yourself-buy her a drink on the house-
The time is probably coming very, very soon when she is going to suddenly discover an immediate need to raise a large amount of cash to cover for her gambling. If she's good looking, you should make her a proposition.
Only when she hits bottom will she get help. There isn't much you can do at this point.
why do you feel the need to help her is it you feel sorry for her is it because no one had anything good to say about her you feel you have to be her knight in shining armour dont get envolved im sure your a very nice person but at the end of the day im sure you won't get any thanks so save yourself the heartach
Honestly, given your description of her I would not tell her she's going too far. It could cost you your job since it sounds like she'd take it the wrong way and complain to your boss.
hey, if thats her way of having fun, why not?!?but if ever you have to approach her... do so when you are off your shift, you might get fired if you do in uniform or something... if she keep this up, you wont see her much longer.
I think you should just mind your own buisness
I think you have a real big heart but you need to mind your own business.Maybe you could leave a gamblers anonynomous pamplet on her windsheild but you need to understand one thing and that is that some people want to be happy and some people want to be miserable. If she is truly the miserable person you say people complain about she will be miserable no matter what.See some people are on self destruct its sad but those who stand in the way will be punished.I learned this while trying to help an alcoholic. Not a nice needs a hand up alcoholic as some are but a raging miserable, poor me, its not my fault I was abused alcoholic. So unless you say there is this sweet lady who is kindhearted who gambles too much should I talk to her then I might say yes but in this case no.Why?because I think she likes to be the way she is and you would be seen as a threat to her fun.Lets face it if she is rude and hateful people will stay away from her keno machines. So thats her pay off.She is a miserable bully who happens to also be addicted to gambling.Being addicted to gambling maybe the least of her problems she is simply on self destruct. You dont need her blowing up on you! mind your business so you can one day help someone who is really wanting help. She is just whining.ignore her.You seem nice so save that big heartedness for someone who deserves it.I know that sounds judgemental but she might cause you to lose your job if she gets angry.

So have this problem with this girl... Any advice?
So i like this girl, I've known her for about 2-3 years now and she is ideal for me in my opinion. She's smart, funny, pretty, and seems to like sports almost as much as me... well not quite... anyways there is just one problem, she's had a boyfriend for the last 8-10 months, and not just one boyfriend, she has been mowing through them faster than i can ask her out... what should i do?So have this problem with this girl... Any advice?
If she's throwing out boyfriends like last week's leftovers, what makes you think she won't love you and leave you too? She may be a ';sweet'; girl but it sounds like she's not interested in being in a relationship where she doesn't have complete control which means, when the direction of the wind changes, you're old news.
Sorry! :(So have this problem with this girl... Any advice?
who cares if she has a boyfriend, ask her out , let her know how you really feel

I have a problem that i would like advice on = )?
Ok so heres my problem... whenever i get into a relationship with a guy i like them for basicly a month then i fall out of liking them, i dont know why. I am currently with a guy that i feel more like friends than anything else, I am very slow with relationships. But im not sure if i want to dump him or not because he looks really happy but i kinda want to be single and move on. I'm not sure what to doI have a problem that i would like advice on = )?
just tell him how you feelI have a problem that i would like advice on = )?
Quit stringing him on , and let him move on..
Then quit getting into relationships, until you know what you want...
Well...it seems no one can acutally help you here. Its a personality problem you seem to have, you like a guy for a short period of time and dump them no matter what.
Try overcoming it and find a guy you know you wont dump is all i can say.

Think about it life isn't fair at all is it. Do what you feel is right. You must also think about this. Do you think you are going to be the first and last girl that might break his heart? You must live your life for you and not anyone else. It's better to leave now rather waiting and really hurting him or yourself.
I would say if your heart really isn't in the relationship then your not being fair to either you or him by leading him on. He may be happy now but in the long run you guys will end up breaking up and it will probably hurt him more later. I think if you feel more like friends with the guy then that's what you should be, you should tell him you gave it a try and you really enjoy his friendship but that's all your looking for right now. I just think leading him on because you feel sorry for him now will end up leading to more problems later on.

I have a very big problem, I could use all the advice I can get..........?
I have a very good friend that I have known for about a year. During this year we have helped each other through some very difficult times. My husband told her husband something and her husband swore her to secrecy that she would not tell me and she told me and swore me to secrecy that I would not tell my husband where I got the information and I did because me and my husband tell each other everything and now he is threatening to go to her husband. So all four of us is trapped in this THING all keepings secrets from each other. And I have a range of emotions going through me right now and I don't know what to do about all of this. Please give me your best advice on this??!!I have a very big problem, I could use all the advice I can get..........?
You are all a bunch of lying idiots who can't keep a secret!I have a very big problem, I could use all the advice I can get..........?
Mmm, I think it kind of depends on the secret, but generally I think you should sit down and talk it out. I don't think your husband should be keeping secrets from you, and if your friend felt it was important enough to break her husband's trust, then it's probably important enough to forget the promise-breaking and just get it out.
It's easy to know that the adult thing would be to sit down and talk it out as four mature people. The harder thing is to actually do it. But, with a little courage, you could initiate what could be a friendship-saving meeting. Take a deep breath and call them.
Whose is the most important person in your life - your hubby? Sit down and talk it through with him. If he is your best friend he will not be angry or annoyed and he won't betray your confidence.
1.It is obvious that your husband and you ,don't tell each other everything.
2.If 2 persons know something ,it will not be a secret for very long.
3.You should be pissed at your husband.
4.Don't loose your friend ,if it is a real one.Husbands -especially secretive ones -are easy to find.
be honest. obviously everyone already knows what the big secret is, so just get it all out so you can move on and forgive each other.
well it can be hard trying to tell someone something but all of you know the secret so talk like adults and maybe you could ask your husband why he didn't want you to know.
sit down and talk it out
It would help if we knew the secret. Some things are better left unsaid even if we all know about it.
Is the rest of your life this complicated? I think you should ask your husband to tell her husband that he was hallucinating when he told the secret and that it was really not true. But then you should make up another lie and tell that (make it really juicy too!) to her and tell her to not tell anyone but her husband and then when it gets to your husband, then you can deny the whole thing and then no one will trust anyone and you can deny culpability. And then you will need a new husband and new frineds. But the good thing...this experience can lead to a career in Politics!!!
Write everything down, and find an agent. You have a TV or movie deal to be sure. Oh, to be young.
This THING is called miscommunication - on a level unheard of before. Just sit down and hash it out.
Very well written, STORY.
I truly hope this is not real - it's 2006!, all this was covered by Morey, Phil, Oprah, whoever, etc, - to death!! OMGoodness, please tell me this is a story!!
Talking is NOT secrets to others.
Since it is no longer a secret, the four of you need to sit down together and talk it out.
It is going to take some work to regain trust.
Best wishes.
If you and your husband tell each other everything then why didn't he tell you this one thing in the first place? And why is it such a big deal that you know a secret of his?
Sounds to me like the four of you need to sit down and try to figure out why your all passing each others secrets around and betraying each others trust.
that was a tongue twister. The 'something' has got to be a huge part of it that is crucial if you want real advice. Is it unspeakable? It's one thing if the 'something' is that you don't like to wear nylons. It's an entirely different something if one of you is cheating or something.
If it's little, then open up a few bottles of wine and laugh about it. If it's big, then who-told-what-to-whom is the least of your concerns, I'd say.
Why is your husband telling him things and not wanting you to find out? If he is honest with you, he should have nothing to keep from you and should not worry about it. However in the future I bet he dont say anything else to him and I suggest that you both not share secrets with your friends because they ausually will tell someone else.
The only solution is to have an affair with your friend's husband, or your friend, if you are so inclined, or both of them, if you are even more so inclined.
You are all acting like a bunch of mid-school girls.
If you enjoy the intrigue and head games, keep it up.
Or you could find some new friends.
Or grow up.
i'm not one for giving advice, but it seems like your loyality is weak. If you really mean to be confidential you will no matter who it is that tell you things.
Better yet, you should have put your foot down and told her that if her husband did not want her to tell anybody she should not do it. That was one way of saving yourself from feeling weak about keeping secrets...and I don't believe you tell your husband everything.

When you tell a friend about a problem, do you prefer that they just listen or do you actually want advice?
I'm answering this from both viewpoints if that's okay.
mostly, its just nice to have somebody to talk ';at'; as I'm organizing my thoughts; simple nods or nays are good though.
I losed a girlfriend once cause I was more interested in solving her problems for her than just listening to her.
besides, people need to solve their own problems; listening though provides both the moral support and allows them to voice their thoughts -- they sound differernt out loud. Occasional input is good cause it may have insight; but your input/oppinion shouldn't be the solution? When you tell a friend about a problem, do you prefer that they just listen or do you actually want advice?
if they talk more than you talk, they just want you to listen.
BUT
if they ask things like ';what do you think?'; then they want your opinionWhen you tell a friend about a problem, do you prefer that they just listen or do you actually want advice?
I want them to listen then give me feedback. its always good to hear someone else spin on something.
Both...I don't usually talk about my personal problems, but if I simply want feedback or a second opinion I will ask for just that. I only have a couple of really good friends I will share things with, and they seem to know exactly when to offer their opinion and when to just listen.
it depends. usually if you have a prob. and need to talk to a friend they will give advise to try and help. I would want help or some kind of advice that maybe i haven't thought of yet.
my wife hates when I gove her advice on a problem she has - after listening to it.
But thats just my wife, because she is sleeping in the same bed as I do. So everytime I give advice, it sounds like I am telling her she it stupid, and I am a smart guy telling her how the world runs.
So yes, it depends on the relationship between the persons.
If the grandfather gives and advice, its different, right ?
YOu think, how wise that old guy is, or you think, omg, that was like 100 ago, now the world change totally, we have mobil phones today.
listen and then tell me their thinking without
pressuring me on what i should do.
Well sometimes one and sometimes the other and then sometimes both. There are times when I just need someone to talk and vent to. There are times when I need advice. And then there are times when I want to talk about the situation and then hear feedback/advice. May God Bless U.
usually if i'm bothering to tell somebody my business i want advice. if not i usually just keep it to myself.
I don;t tell anyone my problems, because I liek to keep them to myself, and I am a private person. Those who ';know'; about my problems never say anything and I am comfortable with. As far as advice goes, I think that I would rather learn it the hard way than have someone tell me anything, no matter how painful the experience because it builds courage and stamina in a person.
